Takeout is an arts and culture magazine to represent Asian Pacific Islander Americans (APIA) creatives in modern culture. Each bi-annual issue features articles focusing on the perspectives, hardships, and personalities of the creatives and the impact of their work.
Importance of representation in Hollywood films, the understanding of “ethnic” food trends, and how AAPIs contribute to white supremacy are just some of the topics that will be explored in this current issue. The stories and interviews in Takeout are a great resource and source of inspiration for creatives and people interested in a more comprehensive look of an APIA’s experience.
Asian Pacific Islander Americans are an underrepresented community that holds a unique, creative community that may not have access to an platform to voice their work.

As APIAs are stereotyped to be quiet, submissive and more logical, giving them a modern platform will fight this stigma. Cultured, celebratory, and inclusive, ‘Takeout’ will take on a loud, bold color scheme along with experimental asymmetric grids to convey a supposed polarized take on who we are. As the focus is on culture and inclusivity, fonts are simple and legible so it does not take away from the lifestyle photography and layouts.
